ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja inaugurated Huawei’s national-level Spare Parts Repair Center in Islamabad, aimed at building local repair capacity and strengthening Pakistan’s telecom infrastructure, in the presence of Huawei Pakistan CEO Ethan Sun.
The Minister said Digital Nation Pakistan aims to build a skilled, future-ready workforce, moving Pakistan from a technology consumer to a creator and exporter of digital solutions. She praised Huawei’s investment and commitment to knowledge transfer, calling the center a step toward a more resilient telecom ecosystem.
Sun said the center reflects Huawei’s vision of translating global technology into local capability for faster service and stronger networks.
Spanning 16 repair desks, the facility supports over 180 equipment item codes across wireless, microwave, digital power and access-network technologies, staffed by more than 10 local specialists trained in China. It can process over 10,000 modules annually, repairing more than 6,000 components yearly at roughly 60% success rate, cutting replacement needs and overseas dependency while enabling swift response during emergencies affecting network continuity.
