Spokesman Report
ISLAMABAD/UK: Secretary to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and former Consultant Foreign Office, Islamabad, Sumblina Hassan has welcomed the call for parliamentary debate on governance reforms and the proposed creation of new administrative units.
She said the people are entitled to know the source and rationale behind initiating such an important national debate, including who raised the question, why it was raised at this stage and what specific governance problems are being addressed.
Sumblina Hassan said Parliament is the appropriate forum for such a discussion, where elected representatives can openly examine the proposal, its constitutional implications and its potential impact on the provinces.
She appreciated PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s call for parliamentary debate, saying that major decisions concerning the country’s administrative structure should be discussed transparently through democratic and constitutional forums.
She added that meaningful consultation with political parties, elected representatives and the public is essential before moving forward on any major administrative reform.
