Pakistan’s hospitality and cuisine stole the spotlight during the April 2026 US-Iran talks in Islamabad, with delegates and foreign media praising the warm reception. While diplomatic negotiations faced challenges, the lavish local food— including nihari and kebabs—and unparalleled hospitality left a lasting positive impression, winning hearts and highlighting a softer image of Pakistan.
Islamabad become the centre point of high-stakes international diplomacy this month as it hosted delegations from the Iran and United States for talks to resolve the ongoing conflict
between the two countries.
There was Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, leading the Iranian side, with Mohammad- agher Ghalibaf, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, joining him on the negotiating team.
On US side, there were Vice President JD Vance, which includes Steve Witkoff, who was a special envoy of US President Donald Trump and Jared Kushner.
While headlines focused on tensions and negotiations,international journalists and reporters present in Islamabad began highlighting a different aspect of the visit—Pakistan’s food and hospitality.
From staff to locals, reports described a warm and respectful environment. Islamabad Serena Hotel itself was transformed into a “diplomatic hub,” yet staff and service standards reportedly impressed international delegations and media personnel alike.
Beyond official venues, journalists shared experiences of Pakistani culture—particularly its food and welcoming social atmosphere.
Informal coverage on digital platforms and media reports emphasised on generosity in hosting foreign guests,lush traditional cuisine, respectful and courteous service culture.
Such narratives helped reshape global perceptions, presenting Pakistan not merely as a geopolitical space,but as a culturally vibrant and hospitable nation.
