COAS & CDF Visits Pakistan Ordnance Factory in Wah

RAWALPINDI, Aug 29: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Pakistan’s largest defence industrial complex, Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) in Wah, to review its production capabilities, export potential and contribution to Pakistan’s defence industry.

During the visit, the Field Marshal was briefed on POF’s operations and its role in strengthening national defence through indigenous development and production of a wide range of military equipment. He also witnessed tests and trials of locally designed and manufactured arms and ammunition.

The visit highlighted POF’s efforts to promote innovation, self-reliance and enhanced domestic defence production capabilities. The Field Marshal was also briefed on progress in the corporatization process following the enactment of the DIPRA Ordinance.

He was further apprised of ongoing indigenisation and upgradation initiatives, including the installation of two new industrial plants. According to the briefing, the plants are expected to begin production by the end of the current year.

The visit underscored the military leadership’s emphasis on strengthening Pakistan’s defence industrial base through greater self-reliance, indigenous manufacturing and technological innovation.
