Islamabad, November 2: Prominent freedom fighter Abdul Hameed Hurra alias Dr Hyder passed away in the capital city of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) on Sunday late night after a brain haemorrhage. Dr Hyder was born in Sonawarai Bandipur in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIoJ&K). Since the early 1990s, he was one of the founders this ongoing liberation struggle and was living an exile life in AJ&K while his other family members were living in IIOJ&K. He was among the pioneers of the ongoing liberation movement of IIOJ&K.

His funeral prayer was offered in Hockey Stadium Narrul Muzaffarabad in which hundreds of local and 1989 Kashmiri refugees were present. Following the funeral prayer in Muzaffarabad, his body was shifted to Mirpur where he would be laid to rest. Dr Hyder had shared his last wish with his friends to bury him in Mirpur AJ&K.
Senior Kashmiri leader and Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (J&KSM) Altaf Ahmad Bhat paid glowing tributes to Dr Hyder saying he was the visionary and brave Kashmiri leader who never compromised on his principles. He left for a heavenly abode with the dream of freedom from the Indian Occupation for his motherland within the eyes.
His all family members are living In IIOJ&K. None of them can reach to attend his funeral. No one can explain the pain of divided families of long-pending Kashmir conflict, but those who are facing this pain can realise this.
” We appeal the world community to understand the sufferings of 25 million Kashmiris living in across the globe who can’t attend the funerals of their dears as Dr Hyder’s family members in IIOJ&K could not attend his funeral in Muzaffarabad which was justice two hours drive but unresolved Kashmir dispute is adding miseries for divided families. The world should imagine how painful is it for Dr Hyder’s family in IIOJ&K and this is the hidden cost of Kashmir conflict paying by 2.5 million exiled Kashmiris on every day without attending the funerals of their relatives and family members. It is time for the world to settle Kashmir dispute on a humanitarian basis to end such sufferings,” Bhat added.

Bhat said Dr Hyder’s death created a void which cannot be fulfilled but the path he adopted will remain a source of inspiration and guidance for Kashmiris across the Line of Control (LoC) for achieving their destination and freedom from Indian occupation.
