Taliban regime exporting terrorism into Pakistan through proxies: Murtaza Solangi

Islamabad: Spokesperson to the President Murtaza Solangi Saturday said at a time when Pakistan was working to secure peace in the region and the world at large, the Afghan Taliban regime was busy exporting terrorism into Pakistan through its joint proxies in collaboration with India.
In a post on X, he said, “Five years ago today, buoyed by the Doha Agreement with the United States, the Taliban took over Kabul.”
“They promised a representative government, said they would not repeat their repressive anti-women policies against girls and women, and pledged not to allow Afghan soil to be used for terrorism or the narcotics trade as they had done until their overthrow in 2001,” he noted.
He said, “They have reneged on every one of those promises to this day. Reports of the UN’s Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team over the past five years say that Afghanistan today poses a persistent and enduring threat.”
“The regime is also committing crimes against its ethnic and religious minorities, exporting terror to other neighbouring countries, and pushing the narcotics trade across the globe,” he added.
He said, “The Taliban should remember that if they continue these policies, their fate will be far worse than what befell their previous regime in 2001. Five years later, Afghanistan remains a painful reminder of promises betrayed. Women and girls have been pushed out of classrooms, universities, workplaces, and public life. Terrorist sanctuaries continue to threaten Afghanistan’s neighbours, particularly Pakistan. Millions of Afghans remain trapped in poverty and uncertainty.”
“No regime can build lasting legitimacy through repression at home and threats to its neighbours. The Afghan people deserve education, dignity, peace, and a future free from terrorism. The Taliban must honour their international commitments and ensure that Afghan soil is never used to threaten another country,” Solangi added.
He said, “Five years is long enough. Afghanistan needs a different course. Taliban regime should see writing on the wall. Time is ticking.”
