Islamabad:  The Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Islamabad organized a briefing for the media on “Current Political and Socio-Economic Situation in the Kyrgyz Republic”.

Erik Beishembiev, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan informed the media about the stability and sustainability of the current internal political situation in the Kyrgyz Republic. It was noted that on January 10, 2021, early elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and a referendum on the form of government in the country took place, as a result of which the current President of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Sadyr Japarov received 79% of the votes and the Referendum on the political system of the country – 81% of the votes in favor of the presidential forms of government.

Erik Beishembiev informed the Pakistani media about the April 11, 2021 referendum on the draft Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic”, as well as elections to local authorities (keneshes). It was noted that according to the Central Election Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic, 79.3 percent voted for the new constitution and only 13.6 percent against.

Erik Beishembiev stressed that the voting in the country and in the diplomatic missions of Kyrgyzstan abroad took place in a calm atmosphere, in accordance with the established procedure, in accordance with the current legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as in compliance with the necessary sanitary and epidemiological standards in order to avoid mass infection of Covid-19.

International observers did not find any serious violations of the law during the plebiscite, thus the referendum and local elections were declared valid.

In addition, the Head of the Kyrgyz diplomatic mission noted that today Kyrgyzstan is a dynamically developing country with a diversified economy, where foreign investors are widely represented, including from Pakistan, as well as a number of positive initiatives of President H.E. Sadyr Japarov in the protection of foreign investments. Erik Beishembiev emphasized the continuity of our country in the development of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation with its foreign partners.
