ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has launched “Naqoosh-i-Watan: National Cultural Narrative“ at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), aiming to preserve the country’s cultural heritage while promoting tourism, the creative economy and inclusive development.
The launch ceremony brought together federal ministers, senior officials, development partners, academia, civil society and private sector representatives to reaffirm a collective commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s cultural diversity and leveraging it for sustainable economic growth.
Addressing the session on “Culture, Tourism and Community Development,” Hashoo Foundation CEO Sumeira Hashwani described Pakistan’s cultural heritage as a vital asset for economic development and national identity. She stressed the need to educate young people about the country’s diverse civilizations, traditions, crafts and natural heritage.
Highlighting Hashoo Foundation’s 38-year contribution, she said the organisation has worked in over 100 districts, connected more than one million youth with employment opportunities and supported over 25,000 enterprises through skills development, entrepreneurship and responsible tourism initiatives.
The National Cultural Narrative seeks to strengthen collaboration among government, academia, development partners, civil society and the private sector to preserve heritage, expand sustainable tourism, empower youth and women, and create inclusive economic opportunities. The event concluded with the formal launch of the initiative, reaffirming a shared commitment to cultural preservation, community resilience and sustainable national development.
