 Ambassador Brahim Romani Pays Tribute to National Heroes, Honours Outstanding Students

ISLAMABAD:The Embassy of Algeria in Islamabad commemorated the 64th Anniversary of Algeria’s Independence and Youth Day with a solemn and patriotic ceremony held under the theme “Independence: A Trust for Generations.” The event brought together members of the Algerian community in Pakistan and embassy officials to celebrate the country’s historic journey towards freedom and national development.

The ceremony commenced with the playing of the Algerian national anthem, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Algeria’s independence and sovereignty.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of Algeria to Pakistan, H.E. Brahim Romani, highlighted the historic significance of Algeria’s liberation, describing it as the result of immense sacrifices and decades of struggle by generations of brave men and women who fought against colonial rule. He paid glowing tribute to the country’s martyrs, stating that their courage and dedication enabled Algeria to regain its freedom, dignity, and national sovereignty.

The Ambassador also praised Algeria’s remarkable progress in recent years under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, noting the country’s achievements in economic development, infrastructure, education, and public services. He commended the government’s continued efforts to improve services for Algerian citizens living abroad and encouraged members of the diaspora to contribute actively to the country’s sustainable development and national progress.

Emphasizing the importance of preserving the legacy of the independence movement, Ambassador Romani urged the younger generation to uphold the values of patriotism, sacrifice, and national unity while benefiting from the experiences and expertise of Algerians residing overseas.

As part of the celebrations, outstanding students from the Algerian community in Pakistan were honoured with certificates of appreciation and symbolic awards in recognition of their academic excellence. A documentary highlighting Algeria’s major achievements and development milestones was also screened, accompanied by patriotic songs celebrating the nation’s rich history and cultural heritage.

Guests were treated to traditional Algerian sweets and the country’s renowned Deglet Nour dates, creating a warm and festive atmosphere that strengthened the bonds among members of the Algerian community, the Embassy, and their homeland.

The ceremony concluded with renewed expressions of pride in Algeria’s achievements and tribute to the sacrifices of the nation’s martyrs. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the values of independence, unity, and national development while strengthening the connection between Algerians living abroad and their motherland.
