ISLAMABAD:Archbishop Dr. Charles Agyinasare, one of Africa’s most prominent Christian leaders, visited the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Ghana in Islamabad on 17 June during his tour of Pakistan.
Upon arrival, Vice Consul Hon. Omar Shahid Butt welcomed the Archbishop and his nine-member delegation. The two discussed ways to strengthen Ghana-Pakistan ties amid evolving global security and economic challenges.
Both sides agreed on the need for closer cooperation, particularly in education and business. They emphasized enhancing linkages between educational institutions and business communities of the two countries. Interfaith harmony, mutual respect, and better understanding among people of different faiths also featured prominently in the discussion.
The establishment of Perez Academy in Pakistan was also explored during the meeting. Founded by Archbishop Agyinasare, the institution focuses on quality education, character development, and leadership training for youth.
The Archbishop’s Pakistan visit included several large religious gatherings. He led the “Pakistan Festival of Miracles” in Hyderabad on 12 June, followed by events in Karachi and the “Ignite Ministers’ Conference” in Gujranwala on 13 June. On 14 June, he conducted the “Karachi on Fire for Jesus” Festival of Miracles, which drew large crowds.
Following the consulate meeting, Vice Consul Omar Shahid Butt hosted a luncheon for the delegation at Pearl Continental Hotel Islamabad. He bid them farewell, wishing them success and expressing hope for continued engagement between the Consulate and the Archbishop’s ministry in the years ahead.
