MUZAFFARABAD: The banned Joint Awami Action Committee has suffered another major setback as its core committee member Anjum Zaman Awan publicly announced disassociation, rejecting the group’s disruptive agenda in Azad Kashmir.
In a video message, Awan condemned the committee for spreading chaos and bloodshed under “foreign signals” and urged youth to return to positive politics. He said the slogans of separatism and “self-determination” being used to incite people are backed by anti-Pakistan forces. “Certain elements are misleading young people. Behind them are anti-Pakistan agencies and hidden deals,” he stated.
Awan added that the peaceful movement was deliberately diverted toward lawlessness, damaging the future of local youth. “I completely disassociate myself from the destructive politics of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee. I request everyone not to become part of any group or organization carrying an anti-Pakistan agenda,” he said.
Before Awan, core member Advocate Amjad Ali Khan had also announced his separation from the banned committee.
Experts say Awan’s statement has exposed the committee’s disruptive agenda. By rejecting the anti-army and anti-Pakistan narrative, he has distanced himself from the group’s chaos-driven campaign.
