Ramiz Raja to hold important meeting with BCCI officials

PCB Chairman to present proposal for annual super series

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja will meet top officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during the upcoming ICC Board meeting in Dubai.

According to Cricket Pakistan, the meeting “will play a crucial role in the future of both cricketing nations’ schedules”. The ICC Board meeting, where Raja will also meet officials of other cricket board, will be held between April 7 and 10. Raja will also formally present the proposal for annual four-team T20I Super Series, an idea floated by the PCB Chairman last year, during the meeting.

According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the proposal, which includes Pakistan, India, England and Australia playing a single-league T20 tournament every year, is set to earn USD 650 million for the all the participants and the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The money will be primarily earned from media and commercial rights and will be distributed to all the ICC members, apart from the aforementioned nations, however the breakdown of revenue is not clear at the moment.

The report added that the PCB has identified September-October as the window for the tournament, which will be hosted on a rotational basis, as it will coincide with the start of the season in Pakistan, India and Australia. Meanwhile, England are the backend of their season at that point of the year.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Netherlands Cricket Board (KNCB) have agreed to reschedule the three-match ODI series for July 2022 which will be a part of the ICC World Cup Super League.

The series was expected to be played in 2020-21, however, it was postponed amid the Covid-19 outbreak. The boards have decided to play the matches in Amstelveen. The first match is expected to be played on July 28. On the other hand, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has also requested to reschedule the ODI series.
