KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) have jointly launched the spring season tree plantation campaign.

An esteemed ceremony for the purpose was held here at the PIA head office. The audience on the occasion were informed that the PIA and NFEH had joined hands to jointly plant 10,000 trees in different cities of Pakistan to further the goal of Prime Minister Imran Khan to keep Pakistan clean and green. The waste collection campaign will also be a part of the joint plantation drive of the two organisations.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of PIA, Air Marshal (retd) Arshad Malik, directed the employees and officers of the national flag carrier to play their due part to make the environment in their surroundings clean and green.

He reiterated the commitment of the PIA to contribute towards planting 10,000 tree saplings in the country to achieve the vision of the Prime Minister for increasing forest cover in Pakistan.

NFEH President, Muhammad Naeem Qureshi, said that his non-governmental organisation and the national flag carrier had entered into a formal agreement to make joint efforts for improvement of the environment and for jointly undertaking CSR-related activities for the uplift of the underprivileged communities. He said that under the agreement a proper campaign would be launched to make people aware of the importance of tree plantation for the upkeep of the environment.

Arshad Malik and Naeem Qureshi, on the occasion, jointly launched the tree plantation campaign and prayed for its success.

Also present on the occasion were GM Welfare of PIA Shoaib Dhari, President of Al-Shifa Trust Muhammad Shoaib Khan, CEO of Siylani Welfare Trust Muhammad Ghazal, Air Vice-Marshal Irfan Zaheer, Chief Technical Officer Aamir Ali, GM Flight Operations Aamir Basheer, GM TGS Agha Sami, Company Secretary Dr Muhamad Altaf Tahir, and Ghulam Kabria.
