68 People Lost Their Lives Due To Heavy Monsoon Rains In KPK
Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my deep concern over the recent devastating incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by heavy monsoon rains, which caused 68 deaths, as stated by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). This tragic and alarming situation highlights the critical needs for proper management and proactive measures in the region.
Numerous lives have been lost due to this natural disaster. The NDMA report stated that the majority of the fatalities are children with 32 recorded deaths, while the rest include women and men. Also 117 have been injured due to ongoing heavy rains. In spite of the efforts of various agencies, the action of such a tragic disaster lacks sufficient support. The government must invest in building strong infrastructure and upgrade warning systems to reduce the effects of disasters. Furthermore, Public awareness programs should be organized in communities about flood safety.
According to NDMA, KP has faced over 200 such incidents in the past decade, causing significant loss of life and property. By investing in awareness programs and enhancing local resilience, we can prevent future calamities and protect the lives and property of KP.
I urge the government and officials to take immediate action on this matter and keep our communities safe.
Sincerely,
Ayesha Ejaz ,Rawalpindi

Inflated promises, deflated hopes
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to bring a significant concern into evaluation which revolves around Pakistan; this country has a long history of ambitious pledges followed by widespread disillusionment. Every election we are promised a better Pakistan, the promises of economic revival, social justice and political stability however once the dust of elections is wiped off the promises often evaporate leaving the people disappointed. For decades we have been seeing these selfish people asking for votes by gaining people’s trust, only to fall short when faced with the reality of governing.
The rise in electricity bills, gas bills, shortage of water in some places and hike in basic necessities people should own are unbearable. A person with a salary of 35 to 40k cannot pay such extreme bills along with other expenses of home. Pakistan had only 2.4% of GDP growth this year. Do we deserve to have basic necessities, having 3 meals a day on the table or a fan on, in this scorching heat, or is this too much to ask for as a citizen? Just leave behind the other expenses and only focus on the right to live, when if we don’t have the right to live in our own independent country what’s the cause of other favors. According to the document of the bureau of immigration and overseas employment, over 700,000 people left Pakistan in 2024 in the search of a better future.
What are we waiting for in an empty state where everyone wants to struggle and go abroad? This is why our ancestors sacrifice their lives. Is this ignorance not putting a question on or independence? This is really a threatening situation where every individual is struggling to live in this country. I hope there comes a day when every single article or a letter will be without any concern and only about the achievement and success of Pakistan as a country. May Allah bless the country with his countless blessings.
