Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Ghulam Nabi Shaida, Editor-in-Chief of Srinagar based daily Wadi Ki Awaz. In a statement issued from party central information office, Muhammad Rafiq Dar, the spokesman of JKLF while terming his death as a great loss said that the deceased was a great human being and freedom loving intellectual. The deceased was not only a revolutionary but a matured and hard-working professional journalist, he added.
The spokesman said that the incarcerated JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik had a very close relationship with Ghulam Nabi Shaida, and it is for sure that Yasin sb will feel very sad and sorry about his death once the news reaches to him. Keeping in view his close relationship with Yasin Malik, his unflinching and uncompromising contribution towards the cause of freedom and his services towards the Kashmir society, the spokesman while paying richest tributes termed his death as a great loss for the nation. Ghulam Nabi Shaida was born in village Goripora, Pulwama, and in the mid-80’s he as a journalist started publishing daily Wadi Ki Awaz from Srinagar that within a few years through his skills and commitment reached the highest form of popularity.
The spokesman said that the daily Wadi Ki Awaz by now, through his writings and the role played by him even during the toughest of times, has turned to be representing the aspirations of the people of Jammu Kashmir. The deceased for the last few months was not feeling well and almost at the age of 80 he passed away this night, and according to his will was buried at his ancestral graveyard at Goripora, Pulwama. Besides his relatives and the people from his ancestral area, the journalist fraternity along with the representatives from freedom camp also participated in his namz-e-jinaza and the funeral. The spokesman on behalf of party leadership has prayed for his eternal peace in Jannah.
