The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), as a single largest pro-freedom political organization spread worldwide representing the true aspirations of people of the entire State of Jammu Kashmir, has always believed in peaceful and amicable solution of Kashmir conflict for which the organization, in general, and its leadership, in particular, has rendered unforgettable and indescribable sacrifices. This was stated by Muhammad Rafiq Dar, JKLF Chief Spokesman and the special representative of incarcerated party Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik.
In a statement issued today from party’s central information office, the spokesman reiterated his party stand that JKLF has always expressed its readiness to engage in any seriously held Kashmir issue resolution process. It is a proven fact that the use of force and the time gaining strategy yielded nothing but has only added to the miseries of people, the spokesman added.
While giving his reaction on the proposed state elections in Indian Held Jammu Kashmir (IHJK), the spokesman termed the management of elections in Jammu Kashmir as a futile exercise. He said that JKLF views these elections as a part of a longstanding strategy of India to sidestep the fundamental issue of addressing the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Such elections, like in the past, raises skepticism not hopes, and the actors, old or new, involved in staging the drama are doomed to fail, he informed.
According to the statement, JKLF believes that the elections held under the heavy military presence in Kashmir without addressing the aspirations of the people, will face similar skepticism. While reiterating party’s dedication to peacefully resolving the Kashmir conflict, the spokesman cited the examples of JKLF ceasefire initiative, launch of Signature Campaign, Safr-e-Azadi and active participation in dialogue process led by incarcerated party chairman Yasin Malik and said that our efforts underlines party’s preferences for reaching to a democratic solution of the conflict.
Rafiq Dar in his statement made it clear that the killings, arrests and the harassment of people cannot, in any way, deter the people’s resolve for a united and independent Jammu Kashmir. He termed the release of all pro-freedom political prisoners including Yasin Malik and early start of the process for the resolution of the conflict as a must.
The spokesman hailed Kashmiri diaspora organizations especially Kashmir Global Council (KGC) for its initiative of forming “Kashmir Senate” to represent the movement in its true perspective with members from different religious and ethnic communities of the entire State. The spokesman has advised India, Pakistan and other indigenous political organizations in Jammu Kashmir to move forward towards a new era of trust and friendship while recognizing the human sufferings met with during the past over three decades or so.
