Shanghai, China: With the theme of “Leading the Intelligent World”, Huawei will present the leading “5G-A Commercial Experience Tour” at MWC Shanghai 2024. With a rich display of products and solutions, it will meet the theme collision of 5G-A commercialization and AI entry, and usher in the mobile AI era. During the exhibition, Huawei and global 5G-A pioneer operators reached six consensuses on the 5G-A era; launched the “Joint Initiative for High-Quality Development of Mobile Video in the AI Era” with operators, industry customers, and organizations; and discussed the development path of F5G-A and Net5.5G with global operators and industries. In 2024, leading operators in China and the Middle East have begun to deploy 5G-A networks, and some operators have released differentiated experience packages based on 5G-A.

Wang Tao, Executive Director of Huawei and Chairman of the ICT Infrastructure Business Management Committee, delivered a keynote speech titled “Accelerating the Development of 5G-A and Ushering in the Mobile AI Era” at the conference. He said: “This month marks the fifth anniversary of China’s 5G commercialization. Over the past five years, 5G commercialization has achieved remarkable results and has had an unprecedented impact on the global mobile industry. In 2024, the first year of 5G-A commercialization and the first year of AI terminal entry will collide, ushering in the ‘Mobile AI Era’ and making intelligent services ubiquitous. The Mobile AI Era will bring important changes in three aspects: human-computer interaction, content production, and mobile terminals, injecting new vitality into human society and bringing broad opportunities to the mobile industry. We need to accelerate the development of 5G-A from the two dimensions of ‘Networks for AI’ and ‘AI for Networks’ to jointly create new business value in the Mobile AI Era. Huawei looks forward to working with the industry to seize the huge opportunities of the Mobile AI Era and build a beautiful intelligent world.”

At present, the number of 5G users worldwide has exceeded 1.8 billion, and operators have realized the first wave of 5G dividends. For consumers, new calls, cloud phones, and naked-eye 3D have put forward new requirements for speed and latency. For the industry, the RedCap ecosystem has matured; P-IoT passive Internet of Things faces a broader market; car networking has put forward higher requirements for uplink; all scenarios drive hundreds of billions of connections, and new formats drive industrial upgrading to bring the second wave of dividends.

Leading operators are taking action towards the 5G-A era, with more than 30 operators worldwide having completed 5G-A technology verification. In terms of terminal equipment, nearly 20 mobile phones worldwide support multi-carrier aggregation, and multiple models have enabled this function by default. In terms of commercial applications, nearly 10 operators worldwide have announced 5G-A commercial plans, including the launch of 5G-A packages and other services. Operators in the Middle East, China and other countries have begun to deploy 5G-A three-carrier aggregation (3CC) scale networking in accordance with the downlink 5Gbps target. In the process of evolving towards 5G-A, operators’ business models are gradually introducing a new model of experience management.

2024 MWC Shanghai was held in Shanghai, China from June 26 to June 28. Huawei’s exhibition area is located in the E10 and E50 exhibition areas of Hall N1 of the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC). 2024 is the first year of 5G-A commercialization; F5G-A, marked by 10G optical networks, has set sail; the coordinated development of “network, cloud and intelligence” is stimulating richer digital experiences and more ubiquitous intelligent applications. Huawei, together with global operators, industry elites, opinion leaders, etc., have in-depth discussions on how to move from a prosperous 5G to a more prosperous 5G-A era, expand new space for operators’ revenue growth, and accelerate the move towards an intelligent world.
