Embassy of the State of Qatar, Islamabad Celebrates National Sport Day

Islamabad :On the occasion of Qatar’s National Sports Day, Qatar Embassy Islamabad organized various sport activities in presence of HE Sheikh / Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, members of the diplomatic mission and military attaché and the local staff.
In his statement on this occasion, HE the Ambassador said that the State of Qatar is currently playing an increasingly prominent and effective role in the field of sports. Qatar is using sports as a reason to forge friendship and to enhance the relations with nations worldwide and has expressed the wish to be active around the world as an outward looking state dedicated to the improvement of relations between nations through sports.
HE the Ambassador added that the national sport day is an important annual event for all, making sports one of the most important pillars of the National Vision 2030, pointing out that the celebration of the Sport Day this year comes in light of the preparations of the State of Qatar to host the World Cup 2022, stressing that the sports field in the State of Qatar is witnessing a major renaissance at the present time, similar to what is being witnessed in the political, economic and social fields.
His Excellency affirmed the State of Qatar’s great interest in sports and its keenness to promote a culture and a healthy lifestyle, pointing to Qatar’s hosting of some of the largest international sport events.
The Sport Day activities included running, and a number of other individual sports activities, while adhering to the precautionary measures related to COVID-19.
