Islamabad: Former President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Dr. Shahid Rasheed Butt, said on Thursday that the will of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) to combat terrorism is admirable.
He said that Asim Munir is improving Army professionalism and the accountability system, which is going down very well with the masses.
For the country to survive, there must be no mercy for terrorists, their supporters, and their sympathizers, he added.
Shahid Rasheed Butt said in a statement issued here today that the actions of COAS have improved the image of this important institution, which is very important for national security.
The business leader said that a strong army is fundamental to the country’s survival. It must be fully equipped with equipment and an intelligence system, and above all, it requires the support of the masses to carry out its duties.
He observed that the army chief’s actions rapidly improved the Army’s image among the public.
A recent Corps Commander’s Conference clearly stated that the Army is an structured organization in which everyone is loyal to the institution and the state.
The Army upholds its values through strict accountability, leaving no room for bias. This has been said at a time when, for the first time in the country, strict court martial proceedings are underway against top military officials.

Participants of the Corps Commanders Conference offered Fateha. They paid profound tribute to the ultimate sacrifices made by the Shuhada of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and citizens who have laid down their lives for peace and stability in Pakistan.
Recognizing the urgency and significance of a robust and effective legal system, the army chief emphasized that the Pakistan Army would continue to extend comprehensive support to the government, administrative apparatus, and law enforcement agencies in taking swift and lawful action against terrorists and mafias.
The forum also expressed satisfaction over ongoing efforts against illegal spectrum operating in collusion with terrorist networks. It underscored the critical need to safeguard national cyberspace through stringent cybersecurity measures.
The Corps Commander’s Conference announcement has made the public aware of the Army’s thinking and intentions. It has also made it clear that operations against terrorists will continue and that national security will not be compromised.
During this conference, the COAS has made it clear that no exception will be taken from terrorists and anarchists, and their facilitators will also be brought to an end.
He said that the country is currently in a critical time, so the people and all the political forces should put aside their interests and strengthen the hands of the Army so that it can adequately discharge its duties.
