President & CEO of Ufone & PTCL Mr. Rashid Khan Passes Away

Islamabad :Haris Mahmood Chaudhry ,CEO , Universal Service Fund stated: “I am deeply saddened on the demise of respected President & CEO of PTCL and Ufone, Mr. Rashid Khan.   Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un .

This is a huge loss for the telecom industry. His inspiring leadership and professional prowess has led the industry to heightened success.”

He will be remembered for his exceptional services to Pakistan’s telecom sector and humbleness as a person,” Chaudhry said in statement.

PTCL spokesperson said in Statement on the sad that with immense sorrow we announce that Rashid Khan, President and CEO, PTCL & Ufone, has passed away this morning after prolonged illness.

Rashid Khan, took charge of Ufone in August 2017 and was later appointed as the CEO of PTCL Group in March 2019.

Rashid Khan is acknowledged for taking various successful initiatives at the Group level, particularly for modernizing the PTCL and Ufone networks and enhancing customer experience.

Rashid Khan remained in the senior management positions in the telecom industry in various companies locally and internationally.

Having extraordinary leadership qualities, he is one of the pioneers in the Pakistan telecom industry and is held in great respect for his contributions.

He will be remembered as an exceptionally successful business leader who was also a great human being, having humility, compassion and respect for his colleagues.

PTCL & Ufone Family conveys its sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the family.

Jazz also has expressed grief over the demise of Rashid Khan, the company’s former CEO (2008-14).Expressing his deepest condolences,  Aamir Ibrahim, CEO, Jazz said, “Rashid Khan was a wonderful human being and a thorough professional. In this loss, we experience the grief one feels for a father figure who often went off the beaten track and paved a new path where none existed before. May God grant strength to his loved ones.”

Being a renowned corporate leader and a stalwart of the telecommunications industry, Rashid Khan leaves a legacy of kindness. His contributions to the industry and the overall corporate sector were both long and profound.

Omar Manzoor, former Director Communications and CSR, JAZZ,expressed his grief over the death of Rashid Khan and said “In the transformation of the cellular industry in Pakistan, Mr Khan played a dominant role. In a challenging environment, his contribution to the telecom sector will be remembered for times to come.

Mr Rashid Khan will be missed for his great contribution to the Telecom Sector”. May he gets a high place in Jannah!
