Kabul :Afghan presidential palace spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said that no progress has been made in Doha regarding Intra-Afghan peace talks. According to Sediqqi, the Taliban’s demand is against the Constitution. He added that peace is a priority for President Ghani and that the Taliban should join the peace process as it is supported by the international community. The Taliban continue to make excuses in respect of the peace talks in Doha.
Sediqqi also confirmed that Masoom Stanikzai, head of the Republic of Afghanistan’s negotiating team had been in Kabul. He said the republic’s negotiating team will hold discussions with the Taliban in respect of the Afghan Constitution and on the advice of the peace consultative Jirga.
This comes after the reports regarding the breakthrough in the talks and both sides have agreed to include the US-Taliban agreement as the base for upcoming negotiations. However, the Taliban group yet to respond. Meanwhile, Sources said that Afghan chief negotiator Massoom Stanikzai is on a trip to Kabul, seeking President Ghani’s approval for the agreed formulation.
