Lahore:  Leading sports figures of the country belonging to different games called on Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar and discussed the promotion of sports culture among the youth during their separate meetings at National Hockey Stadium on Friday.

The top sports stars such as Olympian Khawaja Junaid, former captain national kabaddi team Shafiq Chishti and Secretary Punjab Taekwondo Association Dr Izhar ul Haq apprised the Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Faisal Ayub Khokhar about different issues of their respective games.

Talking on this occasion, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that the revival of hockey is among the priorities of the Punjab government. “Sports Board Punjab will establish district level centres for the development of hockey in Punjab province,” he added.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that Punjab League of different games is being started in near future. “Initially, we are planning to include 15 game disciplines in the Punjab League,” he informed.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Faisal Ayub Khokhar further said that there is immense hockey talent in our country and we just need long-term planning, provision of sufficient facilities and resources to our emerging hockey players.

He said that the establishment of a healthy society is closely linked with the promotion of sports culture. “All sports veterans, athletes and stakeholders should give suggestions for the development of sports among the young generation,” he opined.
