Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD: Mirza Abdul Rehman, Chairman Coordination FPCCI and Honorary Coordinator Federal Tax Ombudsman while rejecting the decision of the government to close commercial power feeders and markets and shops in the evening said that the government ‘s decision would not only destroy the country’s economy and businesses but also increases the unemployment in the country. He said that the majority of the population of the country, especially the poor people, work in these markets and shops to earn bread and butter.

The government’s decision to forcefully close the markets and shops in the evening and cut off the electricity will create a negative impact. Similarly the closure of this industry will destroy the business and the poor people will suffer from unemployment and also will be victimized by inflation and the crimes will be increased.

Mirza Abdul Rehman further said that the inflation in  prices of oil, gas, electricity and dollar have led to disastrous inflation. He also stated that the announcement of Rs 2,000 by the government is ridiculous and the government should take the stockholders  in confidence  before making  difficult decisions. Rising the prices without  prior thinking would lead to a cyclone of inflation. The poor people are already facing difficulties of life and these sort of decisions will lead them for suicide.

He further  stated  that withdrawal of  all privileges, facilities and protocols from all federal ministers, ministers of state, advisors, bureaucrats and technocrats ,and top government officials will set an example  for the nation and business community.

Mirza Abdul Rehman urged the government to take all stakeholders into confidence and provide them opportunities of  ease of doing business in view of the current situation of the economy. He said that the government should move ahead with a proper roadmap to bring back the crippled economy on track and also facilitate /provide relief to the traders and business community.
