ISLAMABAD: Carrefour, owned and operated by Majid AlFuttaim in Pakistan,became the only brand within modern retail sector to have received a special recognition of being the ‘Best taxpaying Company’ at the inaugural Taxpayer Recognition Awards 2021,hosted by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) in collaboration with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The award was received by UmerLodhi, Country Manager of Carrefour Pakistan, from the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr. ArifAlvi, during a special ceremony hosted at the President House in Islamabad.

While speaking about this recognition, UmerLodhi, Country Manager ofCarrefour Pakistan at Majid Futtaim Retail,said: “We are proud that our commitment to Pakistan’s economic prosperity has been honoured with Carrefour being the only brand within Pakistan’s modern retail sector to have received such a recognition. Our total investment in Pakistan currently stands at Rs.9bn with plans of further expansion to support the local economy. Over the last ten years, we have significantly contributed Rs. 6.5bn towards local tax collection, while creating thousands of job opportunities for Pakistani workforce and supporting local small businesses through a robust supply chain network. Being a responsible corporate citizen, we remain committed to support the national economy.”

Carrefour Pakistan is fully owned by UAE-based Majid Al Futtaim, which operates Carrefour stores in 16 countries across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Carrefour Pakistan sources 99 percent of its products locally while working with more than 700 suppliers and partners across Pakistan, to support the local economy. On behalf of more than 37,000 Carrefour colleagues employed by Majid Al Futtaim, we are proud to be from the region and for the region.
