RAWALPINDI: The business community of Pakistan is going through tough times as cost of doing business has been manifold due to increase in POL prices and rupee depreciation. The geo political environment specially the recent change in Afghanistan has brought uncertainty causing slowness and contraction in the national economy. We urged the government to keep stakeholders on board and we are ready to share our input and recommendations to get out of this challenging situation.

This was stated by Nadeem Rauf, newly elected president of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) at the oath taking ceremony of office bearers of RCCI at Chamber building.

Group leader and former president Sohail Altaf administered the oath to office bearers of RCCI which was attended by former presidents, executive members, representatives of trade associations and RCCI members.

Nadeem Rauf said that RCCI prime objective was to explore the existing trade potential of all viable sectors, provide maximum facilitation to members and to dig out new avenues of growth and progress for the region. He said that RCCI will approach ministries, government departments, FBR and others for early resolution of the issues faced by the business community.

Group leader Sohail Altaf said that despite the Corona epidemic, the Rawalpindi Chamber held several important events to promote trade activities and remained proactive in providing relief to traders and raising their voices for resolving their issues. RCCI also remained in touch with the district administration regarding lockdown, business hours and weekly holidays and sought relief, he added. SM Naseem congratulated the newly selected team on assuming office.

Newly elected Senior Vice President Asim Malik and Vice President Talat Awan also expressed the same feelings and vowed that they will work as a team.

Outgoing President Nasir Mirza congratulated the new office bearers and expressed hope that the new team will continue the policies and carry the RCCI’s values and legacy.

Chamber officials, former presidents Jalil Malik, Najam Rehan, Dr. Hasan Sarosh, Manzar Khurshid, Abdul Rauf Chaudhry, Asad Mashhadi, Javed Akhtar Bhatti, Dr. Shamail, Mian Humayun Parvez, Raja Amer Iqbal, Zahid Latif Khan, Shahid Saleem, Saboor Malik, outgoing President Nasir Mirza, Executive Members, representatives of trade associations Sheikh Hafeez, Shahid Ghafoor Paracha, Arshad Awan, Taj Abbasi, Chaudhry Iqbal, Tariq Jadoon, Zafar Qadri, President Small Chamber Sheikh Asif Idrees, Nadeem Sheikh, and a large number of RCCI members attended the ceremony.
