Says ‘PTI only political party with proper donor base
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday urged the international community especially the United Nations to take action on India’s war crimes in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). “The international community, especially the UN must take action on India’s war crimes and the crimes against humanity in IIOJK, as Kashmiris continue to reject and resist Indian occupation and oppression”, Imran Khan said in a twitter post on the occasion of Self-Determination Day.
The Prime Minister said that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) commitment of a UN-supervised plebiscite in Kashmir remained unfulfilled as the Hindutva-Modi government brazenly violated UNSC resolutions, international humanitarian laws and international conventions including the 4th Geneva Convention; and committed war crimes by seeking to alter status and demography of IIOJK. “Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to the just Kashmiri struggle for self-determination,” he maintained.
Prime Minister Khan also inaugurated 293kms lengthy Hakla-DIKhan motorway (M-14), which is an important part of the Western route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Speaking on the occasion the prime minister said previously the development of the country was confined only to GT road, Lahore and onwards to Karachi which were also called as Eastern route of the CPEC. “But a country achieves progress if there is uniform development across its length and breadth. It is made possible due to long-term planning like China which has planned 30 years ahead,” he added. The prime minister said the future planning would envisage a roadmap towards progress, embracing all parts of the country.
If few areas were developed the people living there would become rich, leaving behind other population of the backward areas in poverty. It was the biggest problem of the developing world, he added. The prime minister recollected that during 60s, Pakistan had long-term planning as the country’s biggest projects were conceived during that period. Prime Minister Khan on Wednesday also welcomed a report by the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) scrutiny committee, which has reportedly revealed that the PTI allegedly failed to disclose millions of rupees to the ECP.
“The more our accounts are scrutinised, the more factual clarity will emerge for the nation to see how PTI is the only political party with a proper donor base premised on proper political fundraising,” the prime minister said. However, the prime minister also said he was looking forward to seeing similar ECP scrutiny reports on the funding of two other major political parties — PPP and PML-N. Giving the reason behind his demand, the prime minister said: “This will allow the nation to see the difference between proper [political] fundraising and extortion of money from crony capitalists and vested interests in exchange for favours at nation’s expense.”
