Tashkent, Uzbekistan – The Global Hunger Index, published internationally for 2020, was attended by 107 countries. Uzbekistan ranks 30th with 6.7 points among the 47 best countries in this ranking. In 2019, in this rating Uzbekistan ranked 48th with 10.7 points.
In 2020, Kazakhstan with 5.4 points took 21st place (in 2019 with 5.5 points, 20th place), Armenia with 6.9 points, 31st place (2019 with 7.8 points 30th place), Kyrgyzstan with 8.4 points 42nd place (2019 with 8.8 points 35th place), Turkmenistan with 11.1 points 52nd place (2019 with 11.8 points 54- e place).
This indicator for each country is determined by adding the following four indicators:
– the proportion of the undernourished population;
– the proportion of underweight children under the age of five;
– the proportion of children under the age of five who are stunted;
– mortality rate of children under five years of age.
It should be noted that the main reason for such a high growth of this indicator over the year, that is, the main reason for the rise from 48th to 30th place, is the reforms carried out in the country, and also, thanks to the efforts of the State Statistics Committee, since 2017, FAO has recalculated “the share of the undernourished population “, One of the key factors in the Global Hunger Index.
Reminder that as a result of the recalculation, the “Share of the undernourished population” decreased by almost 2.5 times and changed from 6.3% to 2.8% in 2016-2018, and was also recognized at 2.6% in 2017-2019.
