Islamabad : Special Communications Organization (SCO) is pleased to announce the winners of SCO Online Painting Competition 2020. The online competition was called in April 2020 amid COVID-19 restriction. It was aimed to unveil the artistic talent of the people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) regions by engaging them in creative activity during the Coronavirus lockdown.

SCO had an overwhelming response this year and received more than 3000 entries from AJ&K, GB and all over Pakistan. It was a themed contest on ‘Flora and Fauna of AJ&K and GB’. The competition had three groups for school, college and university students of AJ&K & GB while the fourth group was general public (not age-bound). In addition, to the selected top winners, consolation prizes were also offered to encourage the participants. Moreover all the participants in this competition will receive participation certificates.

The best 100 paintings were shortlisted and judged by a panel of professional known artists and art educators. Painting and photography competitions are an integral part of SCO’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities that were initiated in 2019. Besides painting competition, SCO’s online photography competition 2020 results will be announced soon. SCO’s CSR strategy primarily focuses on the wellbeing of the community, most notably the youth and educational sectors. Recent initiatives like establishment of Community Centres, Software Technology Park, Relief in internet packages and Plantation Drives are some of the milestones SCO achieved in 2020. Winning artwork will be soon displayed in an exhibition after improvement in pandemic situation. The winners list can be seen on SCO official website (www.sco.gov.pk) and Social Media pages (HQSCO).

Soon, SCO’s 2021 painting and photography competitions with a unique theme will be announced, so keep visiting the SCO website and facebook page for further updates. SCO thanks all the participants for their submissions and wishes them the very best in their endeavour’s.
