Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and Institute of Space Technology (IST) has desired to join hands for further cementing industry academia linkages. “We have to make joint efforts with the industry to adapt ourselves to the requirements of the new age and tackle the challenges of the modern technology”.
These remarks were made during a delegation led by the Vice Chancellor of the Institute of Space Technology Major General (retd) Rehan Abdul Baqi during his visit to RCCI .
The delegation included Registrar Engineer Ishaat Saboor, Dean Dr Ibrahim Qazi, Director ORIC Ahmer Rafi and Additional Director Technical Coordination Colonel (retd) Farooq Akbar.
Vice Chancellor Rehan Abdul Baqi said that the role of RCCI in promoting trade activities and industry academia linkages was commendable. He said that He said that entrepreneurship; start-ups, research and equipping industries with modern technologies will be developed in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce.
RCCI President Nasir Mirza gave a briefing to the delegation on the ongoing activities of the Chamber and future programs. He said that the doors of RCCI are always open for the guidance of students. Mutual cooperation agreements (MOUs) have been signed with more than 24 universities with the aim of encouraging students towards business so that they can play their role in the national economy. He said that the world is changing rapidly and you have to prepare ourselves to face the changing dimensions. E-commerce and SMEs and business startups are the new pillars of modern economies.
Along with traditional education, technical skills will have to be added. The Chamber will work with the Institute of Space Technology to promote entrepreneurship, he added.
Former presidents, members of the executive committee and RCCI members were also present on the occasion.
