Tehran :Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev, who is on a visit to Iran, met with Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian on December 22.

Prospects for the development of bilateral relations were discussed at the meeting. Shahin Mustafayev noted that Azerbaijan pays special attention to the development of relations with Iran. Despite the coronavirus pandemic that engulfed the world, relations between our countries continue in various fields. It was stressed that it is important to successfully complete joint projects launched by the two countries. Completion of the construction of the Khudafar and Maiden Tower hydroelectric dams on the Araz River will greatly benefit the energy and agricultural sectors of our countries.
Touching upon the liberation of Karabakh from occupation, the Deputy Prime Minister said that Azerbaijan will rebuild the region by carrying out extensive construction and building work here. Work on the documents signed between the two countries over the past seven years continues. At present, Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia exchange electricity, which is beneficial for each of the parties. The liberation of the regions of Azerbaijan on the border with Iran has created new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation, and it is necessary to use this opportunity. The Azerbaijani-Iranian border is a border of friendship and brotherhood, and it is an example for other countries.
Reza Ardakanian said that Iran could restore water and electricity in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan. There are many companies that want to work in this direction. According to the minister, Iran is ready to take an active part in the reconstruction of Karabakh.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on these and other issues of mutual interest.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran Bunyad Huseynov also attended the meeting.
