Pak celebrates 880th Anniversary of Azerbaijan’s National Poet Ganjavi

ISLAMABAD: High-level event to celebrate the 880th Anniversary of the National Poet of Azerbaijan – Nizami Ganjavi was attended by H.E.  Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari – Minister Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Punjab, H.E. Bilal Hayee – Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, and H.E.Khazar Farhadov – Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan.

Youth Advocacy Network (YAN) in collaboration with Eurasian Regional Center of Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF-ERC) organized a hybrid event to acknowledge and celebrate the ‘Year of Ganjavi’ declared by the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event highlighted the efforts of Nizami Ganjavi and Allama Muhammad Iqbal – National Poet of Pakistan for peace, love, tolerance, and Sufism. 

H E. Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari – Minister Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Punjab addressed the core importance of Sufiism in our history and how young people can connect with them to learn and prosper at the Celebrations of 880th Anniversary of the Nizami Ganjavi – National Poet of Azerbaijan.  

Fsahat Ul-Hassan – Founder-CEO of Youth Advocacy Network welcomed the participants and shared the significance of the event. H.E.  Bilal Hayee – Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan highlighted the importance of Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s poetry and his most famous books Bang-e-Dera and Payam-e-Mashriq’s translations present at the National Academy of Sciences. H.E. Khazar Farhadov – Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan highlighted the Nizami Ganjavi’s influence on the literature of Azerbaijan and its lasting effect on the people of Azerbaijan. He also appreciated YAN for organizing the event. Vusal Gurbanov – Acting Director-General of ICYF-ERC emphasized the importance of the event and highlighted the role of such events in the development of cultural relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

Shahin Yusifli,  Jabbir Hussain  Qaisar Nawab, and Ms. Uswa-e-Zainab shared the importance of Nizami Ganjavi’s work, his contributions to medieval eastern poetry, and the similarities between Nizami and Pakistani Poet Allama Iqbal’s poetry.
