Islamabad : Top ten NIC Program startups showcased their success for students and aspiring entrepreneurs of Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) Karachi. Syed Amin UI Haque Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin Vice Chancellor SSUET and faculty members were also present at the occasion to emphasize the need and importance of entering the unchartered waters of entrepreneurship.
Two startups from each NIC (Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi and Quetta) showcased their business ideas and unveiled the secret of their success in a short span of time. These ten startups have accumulatively obtained investment commitments of 276 million rupees besides generating revenue of 77 million rupees.
Syed Amin Ul Haque, Minister for IT & Telecom, said: today’s activity highlights the focus of present government on entrepreneurship that leads to solving socio-economic problems by the youth besides creating jobs and generating revenue for the country. Each one of these founders took the difficult path to chalk out their own destiny rather than going through the rat race of 9 to 5. Our Prime Minister Imran Khan is a vivid example of an entrepreneur who made things possible against all odds.
NIC Islamabad startup Stech has developed different applications for HR management, traffic monitoring and crowd flow management. Whereas Opportunities Circle provides multiple academic & career opportunities to students through online platform. NIC Peshawar startup Tutors Gateway offers online platform connecting tutors with students. Zama School offers an interactive mobile solution connecting parents, teachers, students & school administration.
NIC Karachi startup Encore Pay provides seamless digital payment service across a multitude of businesses whereas, Hukum Janab offers safe and easy to order indoor & outdoor repair/maintenance services. NIC Lahore startup Aero Engine Craft eliminates contrails that cause upto 20% of global warming. While SE Drop recycles industrial waste water to remove high amount of arsenic, fluorides, nitrates. NIC Quetta startup Gul Tech Pvt Ltd protects coal miners against poisonous gases while Khan Mart is an online platform that deliveres premium quality dry fruits at your doorstep.
Syed Junaid Imam, CEO Ignite urged the students of SSUET to come up with innovative ideas to participate in the cohort induction pitches of NIC Program incubators. He said these spaces offer world class learning environment and mentorship that provide excellent opportunity to hone the entrepreneurial talent of the youth.
Speaking at the occasion Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin Vice Chancellor SSUET thanked the IT Minister for providing an opportunity to students of his university, to come across variety of innovative ideas and successful entrepreneurs. He asked his students not to get inhibited by the fear of unknown.
