Karachi: The National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) has joined hands with a leading industrial organisation to mark Earth Day-2021.
The team of NFEH went to the industrial unit of the Midas Safety at the Export Processing Zone in Landhi to celebrate Earth Day by doing tree plantation.
The NFEH provided three 300 plant saplings to do the tree plantation at the industrial site. The entire management of Midas Safety took part in the tree plantation campaign including the female staff members. The Midas Safety’s officials expressed resolved to fully take care of the saplings till their complete growth. The ceremony was held in strict compliance with the anti-coronavirus SOPs.
Speaking on the occasion, NFEH President Naeem Qureshi said that the theme of this year’s Earth Day was “Restore our earth” as doing tree plantation was the best way to fulfil this cause.
He said that doing tree plantation at an industrial site in the midst of the city would surely go a long way in improving the environmental conditions.
He said the NFEH was more than willing to join hands with other industrial organisations as well to do tree plantation campaign in Karachi.
He said that industrial organisations were under strict obligations to actively part in such environmental mitigation campaigns to offset the harmful impacts of industrial pollution.
Midas Safety General Manager, Basheer Rasheed, said on the occasion that his organisation fully adhered to international environmental and safety standards being a socially responsible entity.
He said that Midas Safety also actively took part in the initiatives related to the corporate social responsibility for uplift of the underprivileged communities.
He expressed resolve to further extend the tree plantation campaign in collaboration with the NGOs like the NFEH.
He urged other industrial units to actively participate in tree plantation campaigns to play their due part in improving the environment.
