Islamabad: Muhammad Asim Khichi assumed charge of the office of Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation in Islamabad today (Friday).
After assuming charge of his office, the new Director General took a round of different sections of the state broadcaster, including the National News Room, Social Media Section, Master Control Room and the studios.
Director News and Current Affairs Muhammad Tariq Chaudhry briefed the Director General about the working of the News Wing, Social Media and Web Desk. Director Programme Khalida Nuzhat and heads of other wings also gave a short briefing to the Director General about the functions of their wings.
Later speaking in a live program, Muhammad Asim Khichi expressed resolve to restore the past glory of the state broadcaster.
He said Radio Pakistan is a national asset having unmatched outreach, covering the length and breadth of the country. He said the news of Radio Pakistan have credibility across the world.
The Director General assured to address problems of the PBC employees, expressing commitment to work for their welfare.
Muhammad Asim Khichi thanked the PBC employees for according him a rousing welcome on his arrival in the office.
Earlier on arrival, a large number of PBC employees, including office bearers from the CBA Union, warmly received the new Director General at the PBC premises.
Mr Khichi has previously held positions in the cyber wing of Press Information Department, Prime Minister’s House, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Home Publicity.
