A journey from Sialkot to Murree is exhausting, heartbroken and terrifying .How many times do we need to bow our heads in shame after the continuous inhuman incidents? Every time we as a nation vow to bring culprits to justice. Such vows and promises seems now a joke and formality after any heart wrenching incident .
Many tragedies like Srilankan citizen’s lynching, motorway rape and murree incident could have been avoided if people or management had responded to the victims in time .let’s take few minutes in your life and think for a while if this the only government who is responsible for all such mishaps? Certainly no! A big “no “will echo your ears .If we talk about snowfall in Murree, it has not only exposed the government’s incompetence but also unmasked unethical and stone hearted conduct of people living in vicinity .
A post went through my sight which says we all belong to Murree ,it’s just that strong blizzard hasn’t struck us yet .It is deeply unfortunate that it always takes such a massive loss of life for the authorities and entire nation to realize the significance of vigilance and timely action. If woman on motorway was timely responded by passing by cars and police, incident could have been avoided ,if people stranded in snow were given some comfort and shelter from natives ,icy deathtrap could have been avoided ,if Srilankan citizen was rescued by native residents ,lynching could have been avoided
I believe it is not only the responsibility of government to always come up with law and order ,we as nation must also prevail a law and order situation. Nation adhering ethics and humanitarian approach doesn’t fail to help victims in dire need of help .Being a Muslim I firmly believe in this ayah which says “if anyone saved a life it would be as if he saved the life of the whole humanity. There can be several forms of saving man from death. A man may be ill or wounded, irrespective of his nationality, race or color.
If you know that he is in need of your help, then it is your duty that you should arrange for his treatment for disease or wound. If he is dying of starvation, then it is your duty to feed him so that he can ward off death. If he is drowning or his life is at stake, then it is your duty to save him. I wonder if our religion regulates us so strongly to save life of each other, how come we as a nation always fail to carry out our duties. It is time not to put blame on one another ,but to be ashamed of one’s own deeds . To prevent traumatic and distressing happenings I future we need to address our lack of ethics and values.
It’s time Pakistanis stopped looking for role models to escape their reality and started advocating for real reform. We have to accept that our lives cannot be solved by money, good degrees, and immigration to the West, becoming a government servant or changing the faces in parliament. Our life in this country is bigger than pursuing shallow goals and it’s our responsibility to collectively work towards building selfless humanitarian deeds .we need more people like Abdul sattar Edhi (born in million) to portray the brighter side of Pakistan at international level.
To avoid more mournful travelling from the Sialkot motorway to the Mall road Murree we need to build a safe road on which people may drive their homes safe and sound.
