Huawei ICT Competition 2022-23 – A way forward

Asad Anwer

My name is Asad Anwer, and I am a student in the Telecommunication Department at Mehran UET Jamshoro, Pakistan. As a networking student, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Huawei ICT competition 2022-23 network track.

The competition started in September, after many rounds, I was selected in the top 6 students as a member of Pakistan Team 1 to represent Pakistan at regional level. On December 22, 2022, Muscat, Oman, hosted the regional championship competition. There were 15 teams of the brightest young tech talent from 11 countries across the Middle East and Central Asia. Jordan Team won first prize and Pakistan Team 1 secured second prize in the regional final. The event was a platform for young talents like me to demonstrate our expertise in areas such as networking, cloud computing, and AI (Artificial Intelligence). It provided an excellent opportunity to learn from industry experts.

After the Global final Pakistan Team 1 qualifies for the global final. The Huawei ICT competition 2022-23 Global Final concluded on 27 may 2023 at Shenzhen, China. There were 146 teams from 36 countries competing in the event. Each team brought their unique ideas, solutions, and innovative projects to the table. The competition was intense, challenging, and filled with moments of excitement and camaraderie. Once again Pakistan Team 1 composed of Muhammad Faeez, Asad Anwer and Maryam Fareed grab second prize in Global Final of Huawei ICT 2022-23.

I am extremely grateful to Huawei for creating this ICT competition to support the ICT talent ecosystem, and I consider myself honored to be a part of it.

I want to convey my sincere gratitude to the Huawei Pakistan Team, especially Farooq Hammad and Hamza Bin Najam, for their outstanding assistance, guidance, and faith in our competence. They have had an incredible positive impact on our career and personal development, and we are incredibly appreciative of the possibilities they have given us.

Overall, the Huawei ICT competition was a memorable event that provided a platform for young professionals like me to showcase our abilities, learn from experts, and connect with fellow enthusiasts in the field of ICT. It was an enriching experience that has undoubtedly contributed to my personal and professional growth.

One of the most successful initiatives they are working on is the Huawei ICT Competition Talent Ecosystem, which strives to support and grow talent in the ICT sector.
