MALAYSIA’S ASEAN 2025 CHAIR VISION:
In 2025, ASEAN will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the formal establishment of the ASEAN Community.
Guided by the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and its Blueprints, as well as the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity (MPAC) 2025, ASEAN has achieved significant milestones over the last decade in fostering regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
To sustain this momentum and to chart the future direction of the region over the next 20 years, ASEAN has taken a bold step by developing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, which will be adopted at the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur.
To strengthen ASEAN Centrality by promoting strategic trust among nations through sustained dialogues, diplomacy and goodwill.
Working together with Member States, Malaysia seeks to also forge and expand ASEAN’s partnerships with those beyond our borders, including with Pakistan. To push for greater commitment towards enhancing ASEAN intra-trade and investment, focusing on regional growth, inclusivity and sustainability.
ASEAN is one of Pakistan’s major trading partners, with bilateral trade reaching an all-time high of USD 11.8 billion in the past years’.Going forward, considering the economic diplomacy efforts undertaken by Pakistan now, I am confident the trade and investment between ASEAN and Pakistan could increase further. Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 is not just about regional diplomacy. It is about building a future together – a future of shared prosperity, peace, and mutual respect.
