Islamabad :Federal Minister for Planning & Development Asad Umar assured the business community that after the passage of rent control act for Islamabad from the parliament, the next important project of the government was to set up a Federal Industrial Estate in the region in collaboration with the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry to create jobs and promote industrialization. He also congratulated the traders on the enactment of an amended rent restrictions bill into a law. He was addressing as Chief Guest a reception held at ICCI in honor of Asad Umar, Ali Nawaz Awan and others to thank them for arranging the passage of the amended rent control bill into a law.
Asad Umar said that the CDA would purchase the land for the Federal Industrial Estate, the Ministry of Commerce would support this project, ICCI would manage its maintenance & operations and the project would be executed on a public-private partnership model. He said that a Special Technical Zone would also be set up in Islamabad to promote the IT sector. He highlighted various other important projects started by the government for Islamabad including repair and expansion of roads, constructions of bridges and underpasses, Bara Kahu bypass etc. He said a new water supply project would start soon to supply 100-million-gallon water per day from Ghazi Barotha Dam. He said a 50 percent job quota has been made available for Islamabad for 6 to 15 scales and jobs were now being advertised.
Ali Nawaz Nawaz, Special Assistant to PM on CDA Affairs also congratulated traders for resolution of their longstanding issue of rent control act and said that many new initiatives were in the pipeline for the better development of the federal capital.
Speaking at the occasion, Muhammad Shakeel Munir, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) appreciated the efforts of Asad Umar Federal Minister for Planning & Development, Raja Khurram Nawaz Shehzad Chairperson NA Standing Committee on Interior and Ali Nawaz Awan SAPM on CDA Affairs for the passage of Rent Restriction Act for Islamabad and thanked them for resolving this longstanding issue of the traders. He said that a mediation council shall be formed under this act for dispute resolution presided over by President ICCI or his nominee and assured that ICCI would play this role in the best interest of stakeholders.

Nadeem ud Din Convener PTI Traders Wing, Ashfaq Chatha and others also expressed thanks to Asad Umar, Ali Nawaz Awan, Raja Khurram Shehzad, Babar Awan and others for their efforts to arrange the passage of rent control act from the parliament and hoped that the government would resolve other key issues of traders with same spirit.
