Islamabad : FPCCI and NPO agree to commence various projects for trade promotion, agriculture, handicraft, stoneware, wooden craft and development of carpet industry in Gilgit Baltistan. Local Department of Industry and Commerce of GB assured support and full cooperation. Qurban Ali, Chairman, FPCCI Capital Office, Islamabad, stressed on special focus on Mines and Minerals, Tourism, Dried Fruit, Herbal, James Stone and urged to start work on agro-tourism project soon.

According to the details, the National Productivity Organization, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. An important meeting was held in the office (NPO) of Pakistan for the promotion of trade and industry in Gilgit-Baltistan under the chair of NPO Chief Executive Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry. The meeting was attended by Chairman FPCCI Capital Office  Qurban Ali, President Hunza Chamber  Mehboob Rabbani, former Vice President Gilgit Chamber Mushtaq Hussain, former EC member FPCCI Shafqat Karim, Hunza Chamber Miss. Rubina and Rahmat Karim and Engineer Zeeshan Abbas. , Department of Industry and Commerce, Gilgit-Baltistan, including officials from various departments attended.

While briefing the participants of the meeting, NPO CEO Muhammad Alamgir Chauhdry said that the federal government was paying special attention to handicraft, stoneware, wooden craft and carpet making in Gilgit-Baltistan. In this regard, NPO is organizing a program from March 16 to March 18 in Gilgit-Baltistan for people belonging to the said sectors. Professionals working in industry, agriculture, the public sector and services can benefit. He urged on FPCCI and all local chambers to play their role to enhance trade and industrial activities in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The NPO Chief Executive further said that such programs could bring tremendous change in the fields of Industry, Trade, Agriculture and Services. Rising production costs is sever problem due to which our products cannot find their place in global markets and everyone need to a reduce production costs, but apparently this is not possible in the current situation, however, we can only reduce our production costs by improving our performance, therefore we have to pay more attention to this aspect,” he added.

He also stressed the need for value addition and said that the main objective of NPO Pakistan was to provide awareness as well as necessary training facilities to increase the productivity. Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, CEO NPO also highlighted the objectives of the NPO.

Qurban Ali, Chairman, FPCCI Capital Office, while appreciating the role of NPO in the fields of industry, public sector agriculture and services, said that FPCCI and all the chambers of Commerce and Industry of Gilgit-Baltistan are ready at to cooperate with all governmental and non-governmental organizations, including the NPO, for the promotion to training of entrepreneurs and provision of technology as our goal is to serve the business community.

He informed that FPCCI in collaboration with NPO Pakistan will organize a Seminar on trade potential in GB on 16 March 2021 at Sarena Gilgit.

Hsuggested to promote agro-tourism in GB and said that NPOs and other government agencies should consider combining the agriculture and tourism jointly that would lead to better economic in growth GB. He said that The government should waive taxes on machinery for the promotion of industry and trade and take steps to provide training to business people in related fields.
