Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur met with Prof. Dr. Iqbal Chaudhary, Coordinator General COMSTECH at the Secretariat of COMSTECH in Islamabad. COMSTECH is an abbreviation for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation for the promotion and cooperation of science and technology activities among the OIC member states. Discussion during the meeting focused on explanation of the objectives of COMSTECH by Prof. Dr. Iqbal Chaudhary and Pakistan’s tremendous scientific potential for contributing to the development of OIC member states. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob briefed Coordinator General COMSTECH on the IUB research activities in domains of environment, agriculture and desert studies. The interdisciplinary research work being done at the IUB’s Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies was highlighted. It was mutually agreed that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur could submit a proposal to host a research center on deserts and arid zones agriculture, livestock and ecology for the benefit of OIC member states
