Demanded lift of ban on peaceful political activities, release of political prisoners, and lift of restrictions on media and end to human rights violations

Jammu Kashmir :Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has welcomed ceasefire announcement by India and Pakistan on a ceasefire line that divides the State of Jammu Kashmir and its people. This was stated by JKLF central convening committee head, Khawaja Saifudin through a statement issued from the party central information office.

The exchange of fire on the ceasefire line between the two armies has turned the whole area into hell and has, so far, consumed the lives of thousands of Kashmiri people that includes women and children, he explained. He said, the implementation of the ceasefire may save people living in and around the ceasefire line from further death and destruction.

Violations of 2003 ceasefire agreement, continuation of gross human rights violations in the State, lodging of concocted cases and arrest of freedom loving people that includes the leadership as well, August 5, 2019 aggression, gagging of media and large scale search operations and crackdowns are all basically the outcome of non-resolution of the issue of Jammu Kashmir, he explained. Along with the announcement of ceasefire, the danger of human losses will remain there if the attention towards the permanent resolution of Jammu Kashmir issue is not given, he warned. With the inclusion of Kashmiri representatives, a tripartite dialogue is imperative for the permanent, viable and democratic resolution of the issue, he said.

The lift of ban on peaceful political activities, lift of ban of political parties, cancellation of concocted cases against political leaders and their unconditional release, and lift of restrictions on media and end to human rights violations is prerequisite to make atmosphere conducive for any dialogue to take place, Khawaja Saifudin emphasized. He said the case of our most popular national leader, Muhammad Yasin Malik is a glaring example that India by the dent of force wants to silence the most loving and cherished slogan of freedom of the people of the State.

Kawaja Saifudin demanded the government of Azad Kashmir and government of Pakistan for an immediate and unconditional release of Raja Tanveer Ahmed whose health condition in jail is deteriorating by each passing day. Khawaja Saifudin said that JKLF will raise its voice against human rights violations irrespective of which part of the State they take place.
