Corona could prove fatal for prisoners on life-saving drugs: Mushaal

ISLAMABAD: Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the wife of Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Yasin Malik, has voiced serious concern over the well-being of Kashmiri prisoners, as most of them including Yasin Malik are on life-saving drugs and the raging pandemic in Indian jails could prove fatal for them.
She said that the life of the Kashmiri political prisoners are at great stake due to the alarming upsurge in corona-virus cases in India amid the worrisome reports pouring in pertaining to the non-availability of key drugs in the hosptals and pharmacies of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organization, in a statement on Thursday, said that imprisoned Kashmiris who are test positive for the virus are battling for life as
they are not being treated. She  said that youth were detained along with senior Hurriyat
leaders, whose lives are also at great risk because they are kept in jails with corona patients.
Mushaal worried about the health of her husband who was kept in the worst detention
centre and being deprived of all necessary medicines despite being suffering from deadly diseases. The Hurriyat leader noted that Yasin Malik was on life-saving drug and whose health is fast deteriorating with each passing day, adding that they are now more concerned about his health due to the rising coronavirus cases, as no precautionary measures are being adopted in jails.

She said that the corona virus situation is becoming alarming in the IIOJK, as over 3,000 cases reported last day in the valley. The chairperson said that Kashmiri people who are under the world’s worst siege of Indian forces are also facing the life-threatening virus.  She appealed to the United Nations and international community to notice the plight of caged Kashmiris and take urgent steps to ensure their early release from jails.
Mushaal urged the world and human right organizations to protect the life of Kashmiri
people from the deadly virus as well as from the brutal
