LONDON:The British Air Safety Committee is set to hold an important meeting on March 20 to discuss the possibility of lifting the five-year ban imposed on Pakistan’s national airline and other Pakistani carriers.
According to civil aviation authorities, the committee will review the status of all Pakistani airlines, raising hopes that the long-standing ban may finally be lifted. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) expressed optimism that the meeting may result in the reinstatement of Pakistani airline operations in the UK.
The ban, imposed in July 2020 by the UK and European authorities, followed the revelation of a fake pilot license scandal in Pakistan, which raised serious concerns about aviation safety.
Civil aviation officials are hopeful that after a thorough review, the British Air Safety Committee will approve the restoration of Pakistani airlines in the UK. The outcome of the meeting is expected to have significant implications for Pakistan’s aviation sector, which has been struggling to regain international confidence after the scandal.
