Kabul : Afghan government and Taliban group announced a breakthrough in peace talks. Taliban political spokesman Mohammad Naeem said that code of conduct, including preamble, for intra-Afghan negotiation, has been finalized and both sides will now start discussions on agenda. “The procedures including its preamble of the Intra-Afghan Negotiations has been finalized and from now on, the negotiations will begin on the agenda,” said in his tweet.
Nader Nadery, a member of the government team, also said in his tweet that: “The procedure including its preamble of the negotiation has been finalized and from now on, the negotiation will begin on the agenda.”
This comes as both sides had opened talks in Qatar on September 12 but failed to reach an agreement as the Taliban insisted the Doha agreement must serve as the basis for the talks. But the Afghan government team opposed the proposal and argued that Kabul was not part of the agreement.
