Islamabad: To bring technological and revolutionary change in agriculture, a sound and fair policy which harmonizes the needs of farmer, is required. This Wednesday, Advisor to PM on National Food Security & Research, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema called on to Chairman PARC, Dr. Muhammad Azeem Khan at PARC headquarters. At this occasion Cheema chaired the meeting in the presence of Dr. Azeem Khan along with all other high officials and senior scientists of PARC/NARC.
Cheema while addressing the participants told, our country will see a record production of major crops in the coming years as the prime focus of present government is to bring revolutionary change in agriculture. He marked Maiz, Rice, Soybean, Suger bean, Milk, Fish and Mushroom as future champions in the agriculture research. These crops has high potential for production and profit, so our scientists need to focus on these sectors. Particularly, high value crops in horticulture i.e. vegetables and fruits can boost our economy by increasing exports.
He added, in livestock sector PARC will use its scientific technology and expertise for comprehensive research on animal production. Our aim is to bring food security with nutrition to all people, and efforts of PARC in agricultural innovation is highly acknowledged.
