Bahawalpur :Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, Islamia University,  Bahawalpur, said that Jamia Islamia was playing a vital role in promoting tourism in line with the government’s vision. He said that like last year, this year too the teachers and students of the university are participating in the annual Jeep Rally in collaboration with Tourism Development Corporation Punjab, Divisional Administration Bahawalpur and Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. With the participation of thousands of Jamia Islamia students, last year’s Jeep Rally emerged as a completely mega event in terms of tourism and business. The University not only this year but also last year organized a bus service to Fort Dravar on a daily basis for the general public and students. It can be an important hub. In this regard, the local industrial and business community and educational institutions and government administration together can make Bahawalpur an excellent tourist destination. Like last year, considering the arrival of thousands of tourists on the occasion of the Jeep Rally. This year also a trade fair has been organized where local businesses, artisans, universities have set up various stalls and showcased their products. A food court has also been set up on this occasion in which local foods as well as public facilities are provided. Food items are available for the students of University Societies and especially IUB friends, teachers and students of the Tourism Directorate as tourist guides who are guiding the special stalls. Special stalls have been set up at the University Veterinary Faculty, Institute of Desert Studies, College of Art and Design where research will be presented at the University. He said that Bahawalpur has the best features for a winter tourist destination where there are historical forts, palaces, national parks and historical shrines of Och Sharif. The beauty of Cholistan gives this tourist destination a perfect color. On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor made special arrangements with the Chairman Management Committee Prof. Dr. Jawad Iqbal, Prof. Dr. Hussain Tahir, Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha, Dr. Muhammad Abdullah, Dr. Imran Rashid, Dr. Imran Manzoor, Salman Mehmood Qureshi, Farjad Faiz and Miss Fatima Appreciated Junaid Tahir’s efforts
