Islamabad : In a blatant defiance of the international community’s calls for a political and peaceful end to the war in Yemen, the Houthi Terrorist Militias launched, in the early hours of today Sunday, February 7, a large-scale attack on the governorates of Marib and Al-Jawf, and targeted with ballistic missiles and drone bombs residential areas, killing 3 civilians and wounding dozens others.

This terrorist attack and military escalation confirm the Government of Yemen’s repeated warnings that Houthis do not believe in peace and only thrive by the sounds of cannons. The Houthis exacerbate the humanitarian disaster through their continued use of violence and targeting innocent civilians, including hundreds of thousands of Internally Displaced People, who have fled from the Houthis’ brutality to the city of Marib.

While the Government of Yemen reaffirms its commitment to the peace process in Yemen, it calls on the international community and the United Nations to condemn these attacks and hold the perpetrators accountable. The Government reserves its legitimate right to protect the Yemeni citizens and its responsibility to maintain the security and safety of the Yemeni territories through respond to such attacks.
