Luis Gorjan, Chief of Social Policy UNICEF called on Usman Dar, SAPM on Youth AffairsIslamabad : Luis Gorjan, Chief of Social Policy UNICEF called on Usman Dar, SAPM on Youth Affairs at PM Office today.

Welcoming  Luis,  Dar highly appreciated the assistance by UNICEF for the well-being and development of youth in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan has the world’s second largest youth population, which is a huge human resource potential.

Dar emphasized that the present government is focused on devising policies for empowering youth in the country. He said that under the umbrella of Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan Program, a number of initiatives have been launched to empower youth. He further said that for the first time in the history of Pakistan, work on Youth Development Index, with the collaboration of Commonwealth and UNFPA, has been started.

Luis Gorjan appraised  Dar that UNICEF is assisting work on survey regarding Adolescent Equality Index (10-19 years ) with relevant governmental bodies in Pakistan. He said that UNICEF is willing to work with Kamyab Jawan Program towards the shared objective of youth development in the country.

The meeting agreed to collaborate efforts towards the shared goal of youth development in Pakistan. In this regard it was agreed to hold technical level engagements between UNICEF and Kamyab Jawan Program to finalize areas for mutual corporation.

The meeting was also attended by officials of the Prime Minister’s office and delegates from UNICEF.
