Palestinian PM Calls for Urgent Action to Halt Israeli War on Gaza

NEW YORK,: Prime Minister’s Office – Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa met on Monday with several heads of delegations participating in the United Nations High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solutionin, held in New York.

During the meetings, Prime Minister Mustafa provided a detailed briefing on the latest developments in Palestine, particularly the ongoing Israeli genocidal and starvation war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, as well as the escalating attacks by the Israeli occupation forces and colonial-settlers in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem.

The Prime Minister called for urgent and increased international pressure to halt Israel’s war on Gaza, stressing the immediate need to open all border crossings to allow the unimpeded entry of life-saving humanitarian aid, in light of the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip.

He also discussed preparations for a Gaza Reconstruction Conference to be convened immediately once a ceasefire is in place, along with plans for early recovery and the restoration of basic services in Gaza, in preparation for comprehensive reconstruction. Furthermore, he explored ways the to hold a donors’ conference to address the crisis and the financial challenges resulting from Israel’s continued withholding of Palestinian tax revenues.

Prime Minister Mustafa reiterated the importance of joint efforts to secure more international recognition of the State of Palestine and the need to come out of the conference with practical measures to implement the two-State solution within a defined timeline.

The meetings included Spain’s Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, Lebanon’s Deputy Prime Minister Tarik Metri, Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty, France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, and Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand. On the Palestinian side, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Estephan Salameh, and Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Riyad Mansour were also present.
