NAB must hold accountability but should not create fear and panic in the business community: FPCCI

NAB must hold accountability but should not create fear and panic in the business community: FPCCIKarachi : A high-level delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Businessmen Panel called on Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal at NAB Headquarters Islamabad.

The delegation comprised of Shaikh Sultan Rehman, Vice President, FPCCI, Haji Ghulam Ali, Vice President, SAARC Chamber, Zakaria Usman, Former President, FPCCI, Nasir Hayat Maggo, and Shahzaib Akram.

The Chairman NAB, with welcoming the delegation, said that NAB is not against investment and industrial development in the country. I had a heartfelt wish to meet the business community and go to the office of the federation but the wish could not be fulfilled due to COVID 19 and today the delegation of FPCCI fulfilled my wish.

The FPCCI delegation informed the Chairman NAB that for the promotion of investment and development of industry and trade in the country, Industrialists should not have complained to the NAB.

Notices from NAB about under-invoicing, complaints about the FBR, and private agreements and on issues such as electricity and gas create fear and panic in the current situation, for investment, and development of industry and trade.

The NAB must hold accountability, but issuing notices to private people involved in the business community, industry and commerce is tantamount to stopping investments in the business community and create fear and panic.

The Chairman NAB issued orders and instructions on the complaints of the delegation on the spot, and terminated the under-invoicing and notices issued related FBR in private cases, and asked if the FPCCI has such notices, bring them to my knowledge so they can be terminated.
We will not obstruct Industry and trade and investment, he said that NAB also wants for people of the private sector, not to issue notices by NAB, and instructed his office not to harass the business community.
